Frequently Asked Questions
Backing plates and pad sizes may not appear to match at first glance. Most pad manufacturers refer to the pad size as the diameter across the side of the pad that makes contact with the paint. If their pad is beveled, the side that attaches to the backing plate will have a smaller diameter. This difference can be as much as an inch with some pad manufacturers. If you see “6bp” or “3bp” next to a pad size, that number represents the backing plate size.
